Engineer – Converged Charging

Location: HO / Switch Building – 5th Floor

Job Purpose

The Engineer – Converged Charging is responsible for the design, execution, and operational optimization of Online Charging Systems (OCS) and integrated billing platforms. This role drives application modernization and cloudification initiatives, ensuring that new telecommunication services are technically feasible, accurately implemented, and maintained at peak performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Design & Roadmapping: Research and design detailed technical blueprints and roadmaps for new divisional projects, conducting thorough analyses of objectives and system impacts.

  • System Modernization: Execute projects focused on operational optimization, specifically driving the “cloudification” and modernization of charging and billing architectures.

  • Service Integration: Conduct end-to-end feasibility checks for new services utilizing OCS functionality. Collaborate with other divisions to implement and optimize service delivery.

  • Product Development: Create new service offers, including complex tariff structures and promotional campaigns, while providing technical advisory to business units.

  • Quality Assurance: Prepare comprehensive testing plans and lead troubleshooting during the Pre-Launch Assurance (PLA) and post-launch phases to ensure billing accuracy.

  • Operational Excellence: Manage system configurations, monitor service behavior, and provide 24/7 third-level on-call support for OCS and related nodes.

  • Network Management: Lead traffic handling activities during peak periods or emergencies to ensure service continuity.

  • Automation & Scripting: Develop web service-related scripts (SOAP/REST) and back-end monitoring tools to automate proactive maintenance and daily troubleshooting tasks.

  • Knowledge Leadership: Share operational expertise with the team to bridge information gaps and suggest continuous process improvements.

Candidate Profile

Education & Certifications:

  • Degree: Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Telecommunication or Computer Science).

  • Certifications: RedHat System Administration (RHCSA/RHCE) and Cloud certification (AWS or GCP).

Technical Expertise:

  • Experience: 1–2 years in project planning, execution, and management within a telecommunications environment.

  • Operating Systems: High proficiency in Linux, Windows, and MacOS.

  • Scripting & Programming: Skilled in Shell, Java, PHP, and Python.

  • Databases: Practical experience with Oracle, MySQL, and Clickhouse.

  • Protocols: In-depth knowledge of Diameter, Camel, SS7 Signaling, SOAP, and REST.

  • Domain Knowledge: Proven track record in troubleshooting OCS nodes and integrating new telecom services.

Core Competencies:

  • Strong analytical skills for complex system troubleshooting.

  • Ability to work in a high-pressure, 24/7 technical support environment.

  • Excellent communication skills to translate technical feasibility to business stakeholders.
