Job Purpose

Are you a data enthusiast with a passion for building scalable pipelines and ensuring data integrity? Dialog Axiata PLC is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join our Group Analytics and AI division. In this role, you will be a key player in managing enterprise data platforms and delivering high-quality data to drive advanced insights and business impact across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Pipeline & Platform Management

  • ETL Operations: Manage and optimize ETL processes on big data platforms, including AWS Athena, AWS S3, and Snowflake, ensuring high accuracy and strict SLA adherence.

  • Troubleshooting: Resolve complex data load issues by collaborating with internal source owners and external vendors for technical support.

  • System Administration: Support and manage the company’s data management platform while training staff on operational best practices.

Data Governance & Quality

  • Quality Assurance: Investigate data structures and translate business requirements into SQL-based Data Quality (DQ) rules for implementation in platforms like Collibra.

  • Lineage & Root Cause: Manage and troubleshoot data lineage; perform thorough Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on all data-related discrepancies.

  • Metadata Management: Maintain and report on the progress of Business Glossaries and Data Dictionaries to ensure transparency across the data lifecycle.

Development & Automation

  • Cloud Integration: Develop AWS Lambda functions to integrate with various APIs for efficient data extraction and loading.

  • Data Warehousing: Develop stored procedures, pipelines, and complex data extractions within Snowflake.

  • Workflow Orchestration: Utilize Airflow for ETL development and configuration to automate third-party DQ job executions.

  • Visualization: Design and develop Tableau data sources and dashboards that adhere to industry standards.

Research & Innovation

  • Continuous Improvement: Engage in R&D initiatives to stay aligned with industry best practices and emerging technologies, delivering innovative solutions to complex data challenges.

Candidate Profile

Education & Experience:

  • Degree: BSc in Computer Engineering, IT, or a related field.

  • Experience: 2–4 years of experience in database management, ETL development, and data pipeline engineering.

  • Certifications: Advantageous if certified in Linux, Oracle, Data Warehousing, BI Tools, Cloud Platforms (AWS/GCP), or Machine Learning.

Technical Skills:

  • Programming: Proficient in Scala, Java, or Python and open-source data tools.

  • Databases: Strong hands-on experience with RDBMS, Data Warehouses, NoSQL, and Big Data technologies.

  • Scripting: Expert-level SQL (PL/SQL, T-SQL) and Linux shell scripting/system administration.

  • BI Tools: Strong skills in Tableau dashboard development.

  • Governance Knowledge: Deep understanding of data quality, metadata, and data management systems.

Soft Skills:

  • Self-Starter: Highly motivated and able to meet strict deadlines with minimal supervision.

  • Team Player: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate across multi-functional teams.

  • Growth Mindset: Passionate about researching new technologies to stay ahead of the technical curve.
