Job Summary
As the Pastry Chef, you will lead the pastry team in delivering high-quality, consistent, and creative baked goods across all hotel outlets. This role blends artistic talent with operational leadership, requiring you to personally execute complex pastry tasks while managing day-to-day kitchen operations. You will be responsible for maintaining rigorous sanitation standards, managing budgets, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within your team.
Key Responsibilities
Culinary Leadership & Team Management

Operational Oversight: Manage all daily pastry operations, supervising cooks and staff to ensure productivity and adherence to brand specifications.

Mentorship: Serve as a role model by training staff on preparation methods, ingredients, and unique flavor profiles. Foster a collaborative environment built on mutual trust and open communication.

Performance Management: Review staffing levels to meet financial and operational goals. Conduct performance reviews and ensure disciplinary procedures follow standard operating protocols (SOPs).

Talent Development: Assist in interviewing and hiring new team members while identifying training needs to improve overall team results.
Culinary Excellence & Standards

Creative Innovation: Design and create new pastry products, artistic displays, and decorative food presentations to elevate the guest experience.

Quality Control: Inspect the quality of raw and cooked products consistently to ensure they meet Marriott’s premium standards.

Compliance: Maintain strict food handling, storage, and temperature standards. Ensure all operations comply with local laws and internal food safety regulations.

Financial Stewardship: Support waste control procedures and manage inventories and purchasing according to the operating budget.
Guest Experience & Service

Exceeding Expectations: Ensure the quality and presentation of all pastries meet or exceed customer expectations daily.

Customer Relations: Set a positive example for guest relations and empower employees to provide “above and beyond” service for special functions and VIP guests.

Continuous Improvement: Utilize guest and employee feedback to identify areas for service enhancement and operational efficiency.
Candidate Profile
Education and Experience:

Option 1: High school diploma or GED with at least 4 years of professional experience in culinary, food and beverage, or a related area.

Option 2: A 2-year degree in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or a related major with at least 2 years of professional experience in the industry.
Required Skills:
