The Role

EDITION is a delicate balancing act—polish with personality and perfectionism with individualism. As the Assistant Engineering Manager, you will go beyond the handbook to ensure our “theatrical performance” never stops. You will support the management of the engineering department, ensuring the physical product is as exceptional as the service we provide. Your role is to blend technical mastery with leadership, ensuring every guest experience is enchanted by a perfectly maintained environment.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Operations

• Maintenance Oversight: Supervise the installation, repair, and preventative maintenance of tools, appliances, and mechanical equipment.

• Systems Calibration: Ensure all controls, gauges, and meters are accurately calibrated for optimal performance.

• Safety & Compliance: Oversee life safety protocols, including fire-pump and generator run tests, and inspect fire sprinkler valves and alarm systems.

• Disaster Readiness: Assist in the development and implementation of comprehensive disaster response protocols.

• Supply Chain: Manage the purchase order log and maintain an organized inventory of parts and supplies to ensure operational readiness.

People & Team Management

• Team Development: Assist management in hiring, training, and motivating the engineering team. Provide ongoing coaching, counseling, and performance evaluations.

• Operational Efficiency: Identify and implement innovative ways to increase productivity, safety, and cost-savings within the department.

• Collaboration: Foster a positive work environment by building strong relationships across departments and addressing employee concerns with empathy and professionalism.

Candidate Profile

Preferred Qualifications:

• Education: Technical, Trade, or Vocational School Degree.

• Technical Experience: At least 2 years of related experience in engineering or building maintenance.

• Leadership Experience: At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory or management capacity.

Core Competencies:

• Language: Excellent command of clear and professional English.

• Aptitude: Strong computer skills for logging work data and managing facility systems.

• Physical Requirements: Ability to move, lift, and carry objects up to 50 lbs; comfortable navigating stairs, ramps, and ladders; ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
