Administrator – Network LAN/WAN

Location: Colombo, Sri Lanka (or as assigned)

Position Type: Full-Time (24×7 Operations)


Job Summary

The LAN/WAN Support Administrator is a critical role responsible for ensuring seamless, high-availability network operations. You will be tasked with independently resolving complex technical issues, providing on-call support, and conducting deep-dive root cause analyses. Your expertise will directly contribute to the organization’s operational excellence and high standards of customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Support: Provide expert-level support for LAN/WAN networking incidents. Troubleshoot and resolve issues within agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to ensure minimal operational disruption.

  • Problem Management: Conduct thorough Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on escalated issues using advanced diagnostic tools and methodologies to prevent recurring incidents.

  • Knowledge Management: Enhance team efficiency by maintaining and updating the technical Knowledge Base, documenting resolutions, and sharing best practices.

  • Mentorship: Train and mentor junior analysts and new team members, facilitating knowledge transfer and ensuring strict adherence to quality standards and company policies.

  • Customer Experience: Optimize First Call Resolution (FCR) rates and minimize case reopens to maintain high Customer Satisfaction (CSAT) scores.

  • Operational Readiness: Support a 24×7 network environment, participating in on-call rotations and emergency response as required.


Skill Requirements

Core Networking:

  • Routing Protocols: Extensive hands-on experience with EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP.

  • LAN Switching: Deep understanding of VLAN, VTP, STP, EtherChannel, and CoS.

  • WAN Technologies: Proficiency in MPLS, MPLS/VPN, and MP-BGP.

Protocols & Architecture:

  • TCP/IP Suite: Comprehensive knowledge of the TCP/IP protocol suite and Quality of Service (QoS).

  • Application Protocols: Proficiency with HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, SMTP, SNMP, and SSL.

  • Data Center: Understanding of Data Center Architecture across Network, Server, and Storage layers.

Network Security:

  • Expertise in IPSec VPN, AAA Architecture, TACACS+, RADIUS, and Enterprise Firewalls.

Technical Troubleshooting:

  • Advanced skills in diagnosing network connectivity issues and implementing performance optimization strategies independently.


Other Requirements

  • Education & Certification: A degree in IT/Computer Science. Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent certifications are highly preferred.

  • Communication Excellence: Outstanding presentation skills. You must be able to clearly communicate complex technical solutions to customers at the CIO and CXO level.

  • Flexibility: Must be willing and able to work in a 24×7 rotational shift environment.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong collaborative mindset with a focus on team-oriented problem solving.
