Position Statement

The Director of Groups, Meetings & Events (GME) is a pivotal leadership role responsible for the seamless coordination between Catering Sales and all Front & Back of House departments. You will drive the department’s strategic direction, ensuring the delivery of world-class service standards while executing the action plans defined in the hotel’s Marketing Plan to maximize revenue and market share.

What will you be doing?

As the Director of GME, you will lead the team to the highest standards by performing the following:

Sales Leadership & Strategy

  • Revenue Generation: Drive the promotion and sales of all hotel products, including banquets, guest rooms, weddings, and outside catering.

  • Strategic Planning: Develop comprehensive sales plans and lead the team to achieve and exceed targets through proactive telephone sales, face-to-face visits, and industry networking.

  • Market Analysis: Monitor market trends and competitor activity—including key accounts and promotion strategies—to adjust sales actions and capture emerging business opportunities.

  • Forecasting & Budgeting: Formulate departmental budgets, participate in revenue forecasting, and analyze customer source markets to stay ahead of industry trends.

Operational Coordination

  • Departmental Synergy: Partner with Sales, Marketing Communications, and Revenue Management to optimize team bookings and productivity.

  • Workflow Management: Ensure the Sales team processes quotations and contracts efficiently. Oversee the timely distribution of Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) to all relevant operational departments.

  • Product Development: Liaise with the F&B team to develop innovative concepts and themed menus that cater to evolving guest needs and drive incremental revenue.

Relationship & Performance Management

  • Partnership Building: Maintain strong links with convention companies, conference organizers, travel agents, and Hilton regional sales offices.

  • Guest Relations: Personally welcome key account stakeholders, team leaders, and VIPs upon arrival to reinforce the Hilton hospitality experience.

  • Team Development: Ensure every team member understands their goals and responsibilities; host weekly communication meetings to align the team on upcoming large-scale events.


What are we looking for?

To successfully fill this role, you should maintain the following attitude, skills, and experience:

  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in a similar capacity, preferably within a high-volume luxury or upscale hotel environment.

  • Education: University degree or equivalent professional qualification.

  • Business Acumen: Proven ability to formulate operating budgets, implement business plans, and position the brand effectively.

  • Market Insight: Deep understanding of local customer behavior and strong market analysis skills.

  • Resilience: Ability to perform and lead effectively under high-pressure situations.

  • Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships and address crisis situations calmly.
