The Role

The Executive – International Sourcing is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and procuring high-quality international products to enhance our retail offering. You will manage the end-to-end import process, from supplier selection and price negotiation to pre-shipment coordination, ensuring our direct import business remains profitable and efficient.

Key Responsibilities

Sourcing & Supplier Management

  • Market Identification: Identify category requirements and specific product variants suitable for international sourcing.

  • Supplier Outreach: Build and maintain relationships with international manufacturers and consolidators.

  • Evaluation: Assess suppliers based on strict import criteria and coordinate with Category Managers to select the best product fits.

  • Negotiation: Conduct effective negotiations with international partners to secure favorable terms and pricing.

Operational & Financial Oversight

  • Product Testing: Coordinate the procurement of samples for quality testing and verification.

  • Financial Alignment: Evaluate product pricing and margins to ensure they align with category goals and drive monthly profitability.

  • Pre-Shipment: Manage all administrative and operational pre-shipment tasks for selected imports.

  • Risk Management: Monitor and maintain wastage levels, particularly for high-risk items.

Reporting & Analysis

  • Dashboards: Prepare and maintain the direct import dashboard to track performance.

  • Market Trends: Stay updated on buying best practices and use data analysis/forecasting techniques to inform sourcing decisions.

  • Compliance: Ensure all logistics and customs-related requirements are handled efficiently.


Candidate Profile

Education & Experience:

  • Qualifications: Currently completing or possessing a Degree in Logistics, International Trade, or International Business.

  • Experience: A minimum of 1 year of work experience is a significant advantage.

  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the customs process and the broader logistics sector is essential.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Communication: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills for international stakeholder management.

  • Negotiation: Demonstrated aptitude for effective and strategic negotiation.

  • Analytical Skills: Proficiency in market research, data analysis, and forecasting.

  • Organization: Excellent organizational skills with a high attention to detail.

  • Technical: Advanced knowledge of the MS Office suite.
