The Role

We are looking for a creative and detail-oriented Intern – Design to join our team in Hanwella. This role offers the opportunity to immerse yourself in the full design lifecycle—from initial concept and raw material selection to the creation of technically viable sketches and finalized products. You will work closely with senior designers to translate innovative ideas into high-performance apparel for leading global brands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Sketching: Produce technically viable sketches for swimwear and activewear, demonstrating an understanding of the development process from material selection to the finished product.

  • Design Development: Collaborate with the Senior Designer to develop sketches and design concepts that align with brand aesthetics.

  • Tech Pack Preparation: Ensure the on-time delivery of accurate and comprehensive tech packs for all approved designs.

  • Innovation: Proactively identify and present fresh innovation ideas to the management team.

  • Sampling & Execution: Coordinate with the cutting and sample room teams to follow up on design styles and ensure the timely delivery of prototypes.

  • Presentation Support: Assist the team during customer visits by coordinating samples, setting up boardrooms, and ensuring a professional environment to showcase designs effectively.


Knowledge and Skills

Education & Technical Skills:

  • Education: Currently an Undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Design, Fashion, or Product Creation.

  • Software Proficiency: Fluent in CAD software (Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop are essential; experience with Canva or similar tools is beneficial).

Core Competencies:

  • Creative Expertise: A strong eye for aesthetics combined with a foundational knowledge of garment construction.

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.

  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze trends and technical requirements to support both creative and business objectives.

  • Organizational Skills: Capable of managing deadlines and coordinating multiple aspects of a project from concept to execution.
