The Role

We are looking for a dedicated Assistant Manager – Safety, Sustainability & Compliance to lead our health, safety, and environmental initiatives. Based in Katunayake, you will be responsible for fostering a robust safety culture, ensuring rigorous adherence to international compliance standards, and championing the company’s green and carbon-neutral sustainability goals.

Job Responsibilities

Health & Safety (OHS)

  • System Management: Oversee the implementation and continual review of the Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) management system to ensure high staff awareness and commitment.

  • Operational Safety: Liaise with the Head of Operations to provide improvement ideas that enhance facility safety and quality.

  • Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into accidents and incidents, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.

  • Training & Drills: Collaborate with HR to oversee safety training programs and conduct periodic fire drills in compliance with fire department regulations.

Sustainability & Compliance

  • Certification Lead: Responsible for the initial certification and renewal of critical standards, including C-TPAT, ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, SMETA, GRS, and RCS.

  • Green Initiatives: Act as the internal champion for sustainability, driving carbon-neutral practices and executing projects in line with Cluster and Group guidelines.

  • Audit & Documentation: Act as the primary point of contact for compliance activities; maintain, update, and review all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

  • Regulatory Adherence: Ensure the company meets all compliance standards set by relevant authorities and maintain up-to-date documentation.

Operational Excellence

  • Technology Integration: Lead the implementation of technology solutions, such as Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and automation, to drive operational excellence and competitive advantage.

  • Reporting: Assess, monitor, and report on all compliance-related activities to senior management.


Candidate Profile

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline with specialized exposure to OHS, compliance, and sustainability.

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in the fields of OHS, compliance, and sustainability.

  • Professional Credentials: Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., NEBOSH, ISO Auditor certifications) will be a distinct advantage.

Skills & Attributes:

  • Communication: Excellent command of both English and Sinhala (written and oral).

  • Leadership: Proven ability to drive staff commitment toward safety and sustainability goals.

  • Technical Savvy: Experience with warehouse technology and automated systems.
