The Role

We are seeking a technically adept and curious Intern – Autonomation to join our team in Mawathagama. In this role, you will bridge the gap between manual processes and digital efficiency, assisting in the design, development, and testing of automated systems that redefine how we manufacture world-class apparel.

Key Responsibilities

Feasibility & Design

  • ROI Analysis: Collect data on operation cycle times and production quantities to calculate Return on Investment (ROI) and assess the viability of proposed automation projects.

  • Concept Development: Finalize design concepts using tools like brainstorming, expert consultation, market research, and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).

  • System Design: Utilize CAD software to design mechanical and pneumatic systems, as well as control system wiring for automated machinery.

Programming & Fabrication

  • Logic Development: Create flowcharts and State Machine diagrams to define machine functionality; perform control system programming and debugging.

  • Hands-on Assembly: Lead the fabrication of mechanical systems and the wiring/manufacturing of electrical and electronic control systems.

Testing & Validation

  • Performance Testing: Conduct in-house and factory-floor testing to validate machine reliability, operator ease-of-use, and product quality.

  • Continuous Improvement: Troubleshoot hardware and software issues during the prototyping phase to ensure optimal machine performance.


Candidate Profile

Education & Knowledge:

  • Academic Background: Current undergraduate in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • Technical Skills: Foundational knowledge of mechanical and electrical control systems, including pneumatics.

  • Design Proficiency: Basic skills in mechanical system design, simulation, and prototyping.

Core Competencies:

  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to use data to justify technical investments and project viability.

  • Problem-Solving: A proactive approach to debugging and refining automated systems.

  • Collaboration: A strong team player capable of working with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
