Position Summary
The Assistant Chief Engineer supports the Chief Engineer in maintaining the hotel’s infrastructure and ensuring the safe, effective operation of all facilities and equipment. You will be responsible for upholding Hilton’s high standards of operational excellence, safety, and efficiency while leading a skilled technical team.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Oversight & Maintenance

Maintenance Planning: Develop and supervise maintenance plans for facilities and equipment, ensuring smooth implementation by internal staff and external contractors.

Systems Management: Ensure the safe and efficient operation of all machine rooms and essential building services, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection.

Asset Evaluation: Assist in the long-term evaluation of equipment, drafting overhaul and repurchase plans to maintain peak performance.
Project & Contractor Management

Contractor Liaison: Draft requirements and evaluate quotations for external works; negotiate with contractors to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.

Quality Control: Supervise implementation and follow up on all external projects to ensure high-quality workmanship and adherence to local regulations.
Financial & Administrative Management

Budgetary Control: Assist in developing annual budgets and monitor expenses to achieve effective cost control.

Reporting: Maintain a valid record-filing system and provide daily reports to the Chief Engineer.

Supply Chain: Oversee warehouse management and implement efficient inventory controls within the Engineering department.
Leadership & Compliance

Team Development: Conduct performance evaluations, provide career guidance, and organize cross-training opportunities for the engineering team.

Safety & Regulatory: Liaise with government bodies (Fire, Power, Water, etc.) to ensure all documentation is compliant and safety hazards are resolved promptly.

Human Resources: Assist in recruiting, promoting, or managing disciplinary actions for department staff.
Candidate Profile
Education & Experience:
-
Education: BSc in Engineering or a relevant field of expertise.

Industry Experience: At least 10 years of experience in hotel/building services or a related engineering field.

Leadership Experience: Minimum of 5 years as a Duty Engineer or 2 years as an Assistant Chief Engineer in a 4 or 5-star hotel environment.
Knowledge & Skills:

Technical Mastery: Specialized knowledge in water treatment, hydraulics, chillers, HVAC, LV/electronics, elevators, boilers, and sound/lighting systems.

Regulatory Compliance: Deep understanding of government regulations, technical rules, and building specifications.

Sustainability: Practical knowledge of energy conservation strategies.

Communication: Proficient in English with strong interpersonal skills to coordinate with cross-functional departments.
