The Role
Orient Takaful is seeking a distinguished Head of Internal Shari’ah Control to lead and manage the Company’s Shari’ah supervision and governance framework. Reporting directly to the Internal Shari’ah Supervisory Committee (ISSC), you will be the primary authority ensuring that all products, operations, and corporate practices remain in strict compliance with Shari’ah principles and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Governance & Compliance Oversight

Shari’ah Compliance: Ensure end-to-end Shari’ah compliance across all company products, services, and operational practices.

Advisory & Guidance: Provide expert technical guidance to departments in alignment with ISSC resolutions and approved AAOIFI/CBUAE standards.

Framework Development: Strengthen and maintain robust internal Shari’ah control frameworks and governance structures to mitigate compliance risks.
Liaison & Communication

ISSC Coordination: Act as the primary liaison between the executive management and the Internal Shari’ah Supervisory Committee.

Information Dissemination: Effectively communicate ISSC resolutions and fatwas to the Internal Shari’ah Control Division, Internal Shari’ah Audit Division, and relevant business units.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with the Internal Audit and Risk departments to ensure a unified approach to Shari’ah governance.
Candidate Profile
Education & Certifications:

Academic Background: Bachelor’s degree in Islamic Shari’ah or a closely related specialization.

Professional Certification: Mandatory certification in Shari’ah supervision or Takaful insurance from recognized bodies such as AAOIFI or CIBAFI.
Experience:

Islamic Finance: Minimum of 10 years of professional experience within Islamic financial institutions.

Takaful Expertise: At least 5 years of specific experience in Shari’ah supervision within Takaful (Islamic Insurance) companies.
Skills & Competencies:

Linguistic Proficiency: Excellent written and verbal command of both English and Arabic is essential for interpreting Shari’ah texts and corporate reporting.

Leadership: Proven ability to lead a specialized division and influence senior-level stakeholders.

Integrity: Deep commitment to the values of Islamic finance and ethical business conduct.
