The Role
The Assistant Manager – Bunker Trading & Hedging is responsible for supporting and driving the company’s fuel trading and risk management strategies. This role utilizes data-driven market insights to execute buy/sell decisions and manage price risk exposure. You will play a critical part in optimizing margins through effective commodity trading, hedging strategies, and deep market intelligence within the marine fuel business.
Key Responsibilities
Market Analysis & Intelligence

Market Monitoring: Track global oil and marine fuel markets, including Brent, WTI, Singapore Gasoil, and VLSFO trends.

Strategic Analysis: Analyze supply-demand dynamics, geopolitical shifts, and macroeconomic indicators impacting fuel pricing.

Reporting: Provide daily and weekly market reports featuring actionable insights and price outlooks.
Trading & Decision Support

Strategy Development: Recommend optimal buy/sell strategies for bunker fuel procurement and sales to maximize margins.

Real-time Pricing: Support pricing decisions for customer quotations based on live market movements and arbitrage opportunities.

Optimization: Identify margin optimization strategies to maintain a competitive edge in the regional market.
Hedging & Risk Management

Derivative Strategy: Develop and implement hedging strategies using financial instruments such as swaps, futures, and options.

Risk Mitigation: Monitor exposure to price volatility and recommend proactive risk mitigation actions.

Effectiveness Tracking: Monitor hedge performance to ensure alignment with the company’s overall risk appetite.
Execution & Performance Reporting

Trade Execution: Assist in executing trades in accordance with approved strategies and internal limits.

Performance Analysis: Analyze trading margins and hedge outcomes, preparing detailed reports on P&L impact.

Dashboards: Maintain and update dashboards to track key trading performance and risk indicators.

Compliance: Ensure all documentation and trades comply with internal controls and regulatory standards.
Candidate Profile
Education & Experience:

Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering, or a related field.

Professional Qualifications: CFA, FRM, or an equivalent professional qualification would be a distinct advantage.

Experience: 3–5 years of experience in commodity trading, oil & gas, shipping, or financial markets.

Exposure: Prior experience in fuel trading, derivatives, or risk management is highly preferred.
