SriLankan IT Systems drives the airline’s digital strategy through transformation, technology adoption, data modeling, business intelligence, and business continuity. Our award-winning IT team is seeking a dynamic individual to join us as a Senior Systems Engineer (DBA).

Role Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for the administration of a large, complex enterprise server and database environment comprising diverse server infrastructure and a multitude of corporate databases. You will contribute to IT infrastructure projects and carry out design, implementation, maintenance, and support of Oracle, MSSQL, and other Database Administration (DBA) services to ensure systems operate securely and at optimum capacity.

Key Responsibilities

• Data Integrity & Monitoring: Execute predefined control procedures to ensure the accuracy, integrity, security, and consistency of all system data. Review performance reports (daily, weekly, monthly) to ensure the availability, reliability, and business continuity of the enterprise environment.

• Project & System Support: Ensure infrastructure projects are completed within target timelines. Provide technical input and support in configuring and maintaining infrastructure, databases, and logs to meet application system requirements.

• Backup & Disaster Recovery: Maintain and follow Backup and Disaster Recovery (DR) procedures, implementing system policies during database tasks to ensure efficient fault recovery with minimal downtime.

• Performance Tuning: Carry out scheduled monitoring of databases and logical data structures, taking necessary actions to optimize efficiency, resource utilization, and predefined performance targets.

• Service Management: Meet targeted metrics for incident handling, request fulfillment, change requests, and problem management.

• Documentation & Version Control: Create, update, and maintain comprehensive documentation under version control (including system diagrams, flow charts, hardware configurations, and troubleshooting procedures) to ensure rapid response times.

• Upgrades & Innovation: Provide technical inputs and feedback for the design and execution of upgrade plans and workflow improvements to maximize user satisfaction with the corporate RDBMS.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with Application Development staff to assist in planning and providing seamless data transfer facilities for business applications.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Education & Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree* in a relevant field from a recognized university with a minimum of 2 years of post-qualifying relevant experience. (*Fields include Engineering, Computer Science, General Science with Mathematics, Management Information Systems, Applied Statistics, etc.)

  • OR A full professional qualification equivalent to NVQ Level 07 with a minimum of 4 years of post-qualifying experience in a relevant discipline.

• Nationality: Must be a Sri Lankan citizen.

• Age Limit: The upper age limit is 35 years as of June 1st, 2026 (the closing date).
