Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior AS400 / IBM i Administrator to take ownership of advanced system support, performance tuning, and infrastructure management. In this role, you will ensure high availability, security, and optimal performance across our IBM i environments.

Key Responsibilities & Qualifications

• Advanced System Support (L3): Handle complex incidents, perform root cause analysis, and resolve critical production issues escalated from L1/L2 teams.

• System Performance & Tuning: Monitor CPU, memory, and disk usage; proactively optimize system performance utilizing tools like WRKSYSSTS, WRKACTJOB, and others.

• Backup & Recovery Management: Design, maintain, and test full and incremental backup strategies using BRMS or native tools; lead disaster recovery (DR) planning and execution.

• Security Administration: Manage user profiles, authorities, auditing processes (QAUDJRN), compliance policies, and overarching system security settings.

• System Upgrades & PTF Management: Plan and execute OS upgrades (IBM i versions), and apply cumulative PTFs, group PTFs, and firmware updates.

• High Availability (HA) & DR Solutions: Manage replication tools (such as MIMIX, PowerHA, or iCluster) to ensure data consistency and failover readiness.

• Job & Workload Management: Troubleshoot job failures, manage job queues, and oversee subsystems and batch processing.

• Storage & IFS Management: Monitor and manage Auxiliary Storage Pools (ASPs), disk utilization, and Integrated File System (IFS) objects.

• Change & Release Management: Support application deployments, safely transport changes between environments, and maintain robust rollback plans.

• Automation & Scripting: Develop CL programs to automate routine administration tasks and continuously improve operational efficiency.
