Job Purpose

The Department of Clinical Sciences at the University of Sharjah’s College of Medicine invites Open Rank applications for a dual-profile position in Pediatrics, starting in the Fall semester of the 2026/2027 academic year.

This unique joint appointment allows the successful candidate to serve as both an academic faculty member at the University and a Consultant Pediatrician at University Hospital Sharjah. We are seeking experienced professionals who can balance high-level clinical practice with academic excellence. Priority will be given to candidates with subspecialty expertise in Academic General Pediatrics, Pediatric Endocrinology, or Pediatric Infectious Diseases.

Main Accountabilities & Expectations

• Academic Excellence: Deliver high-quality teaching, facilitate clinical Problem-Based Learning (PBL) sessions, and contribute to an integrated medical curriculum.

• Clinical Service: Fulfill all responsibilities of a Consultant Pediatrician, providing expert clinical care within your specialty at University Hospital Sharjah.

• Research & Scholarly Activity: Maintain an active research profile with a consistent record of high-quality publications in peer-reviewed journals.

• Mentorship: Provide academic advising and professional mentorship to postgraduate students and residents.

• Clinical Clerkships: Participate in and support academic programs and educational events related to clinical clerkships.

• Institutional Service: Engage in university committees, community service, and administrative duties as assigned by the College Dean or Department Chairperson.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of combined teaching and clinical experience in the field of Pediatrics.

• Certification: Must hold an American Board certification, Fellowship (Royal College), or an equivalent recognized high-tier board certification in Pediatrics.

• Academic Rank: Eligible for appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor based on research and teaching history.

• Clinical Competence: Demonstrated ability to operate as a Consultant Pediatrician in a hospital setting.

• Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within both academic and clinical multidisciplinary teams.
