Job Purpose

The Department of Family and Community Medicine and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Sharjah invites distinguished candidates for the position of Professor of Medical Education, commencing in the Fall semester of the 2026/2027 academic year.

The successful candidate will lead educational innovation, curriculum management, and the supervision of high-level graduate programs, including the PhD in Health Professions Education and the Master of Leadership in Health Professions Education. This role serves as a strategic advisor to the Dean and oversees faculty development to enhance the quality of teaching and research across the College of Medicine and the Medical Education Centre.

Main Accountabilities & Expectations

• Graduate Leadership: Supervise and support the delivery of the PhD in Health Professions Education and the Master of Leadership in Health Professions Education.

• Strategic Advising: Provide expert advice to the Dean on curriculum design, delivery, and assessment across all undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

• Curriculum Management: Oversee the implementation of policies and procedures to ensure robust curriculum governance and alignment with international standards (EPA).

• Innovation: Champion and implement innovative teaching, learning, and assessment practices within the college.

• Faculty Development: Lead and contribute to faculty development initiatives to elevate teaching standards and educational research.

• Research & Mentorship: Drive high-impact research in Health Professions Education and mentor junior academic staff through their research and promotion pathways.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Education: PhD in Medical, Clinical, or Health Profession Education (or a related field). A medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) is considered a distinct advantage.

• Rank & Experience: At least three years of a proven teaching record at the rank of Full Professor at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

• Supervision: Extensive experience supervising doctoral students in Medical/Health Professions Education programs.

• Research Excellence: A substantial track record of research published in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals and success in securing large-scale, competitive external research grants.

• Global Recognition: Active participation in international medical education boards, experience as an external examiner, or editorial roles in major academic journals.

• Strategic Vision: Ability to develop and execute strategic plans for curriculum development aligned with international standards.

• Relevant Experience: Minimum 3 years at the rank of Full Professor.
